Once you complete your manuscript, it can be challenging to know what steps to take next. In fact, it can be quite simple. We can work out a custom plan and timeline for you, based on your own level of expertise and comfort. If you are familiar with formatting and design, we can provide just some direction. Or, if you have no idea what to do, we can do all of the background work for you. Or perhaps you are someone who just wants someone else to take care of all of the details. We can do that too. Cost: $2799
OPTION 1: LINE-BY-LINE EDITING, AND PROOFREADING
Checks for spelling, grammar, corrects sentence structure, overall look and consistency, locates missing and added words which are often overlooked. Also includes suggestions if areas are found that may be confusing or unclear to the reader. The purpose of this process is to ensure that the language supports the writer’s intent — while also creating the most clear and readable version of the book.
Cost: whichever is the greater of $.04/word or $700.00.
For example: $800 for a 20,000-word document; 17,500 words or less is a flat $700.00
Note: if you have written a very clean manuscript and minimal editing is required. i.e. basically proof-reading, a discount may be applied at the publisher’s discretion.
OPTION 2: DEVELOPMENTAL EDITING
This option includes everything in line-by-line editing and proofreading, plus a thorough, in-depth review of your entire manuscript. It examines all the elements of your writing and any issues related to flow and clarity. Your target audience is kept in mind.
Cost: determined by the amount of editing and development required, starting at $.06/word
